One of the best: Tottenham fans show their love for Alli

[ad_pod ]

On Thursday, Dele Alli turned 23 years of age.

Signed from MK Dons for an initial £5m in 2015, Alli has turned out to be a stunning capture for Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, the attacker has a record of 53 goals and 46 assists in 175 appearances for Spurs in all competitions, including seven goals this term.

Alli is also a hugely important figure in the England set-up and there is every reason to believe that he will continue to improve over the coming years.

As expected, Tottenham’s official Twitter account were on hand with a special birthday tribute for the 2015 arrival.

Pl>ymaker FC’s Matchday with Max caught up with Jamaica’s women’s team. See what happened when he met the history makers in the video below…

And that led to a number of the London club’s supporters taking to social media to lavish praise on the incredibly talented attacker.

It is certainly going to be interesting to see how his career develops over the coming years.

A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Tottenham fans, who have shown their love for the 6 ft 2 ace, can be seen below:

Mason Greenwood has a hugely exciting future for Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s honeymoon period is over and Man United need to knuckle down and get the results from now until the end of the season. Clearly, things need to improve if they’re going to kick this new project off in the best possible way, with Champions League qualification the obvious goal.

In recent weeks his side have found some games problematic, mainly because of important injuries his team have incurred. Still, the team needs some fresh impetus, whether it be new signings or trusting youth players.

Though with serious changes likely to be made by the manager over the summer, perhaps the judgement should take place after he implements his own style with his pick of players.

Something fans of all clubs love to see is the implementation of youngsters in and around their squad.

Man United have successfully paved the way for a number of players in the first-team so that same opportunity should be given to Mason Greenwood in the summer ahead of next season. It’s a tradition that hasn’t died and, considering their new manager’s love for all things United, it’s not likely to.

Mason Greenwood has once again been superb for Man United’s youth side, as he’s gone on to supply 22 goals and six assists in 24 appearances. Amazing stuff and stats that will surely excite the Old Trafford faithful.

Whilst he has been around the first-team at times, Greenwood is yet to be given a real chance by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, something that has to change this summer, if his fleeting performances in the first-team this term are anything to go by.

Having seen Marcus Rashford surge into the first-team picture unexpectedly, the same thing entirely could happen to Mason Greenwood, based on his phenomenal stats at youth level. With pace, power and finishing all top qualities of his, there is no reason to suggest why at the very least, he shouldn’t be given a chance to impress during pre-season.

After all with the significant spending United are probably planning, surely the idea of saving money wherever possible will be a good idea so they can concentrate on other positions, right?

Do you agree that Mason Greenwood is deserving of a shot in the first team? Let us know!

Leeds fans identify problem position

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on Twitter have highlighted the striker position as the area the team needed to improve on to make the next step.

The Whites have relied on Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe to lead their line this season and despite the pair netting 23 league goals between them, Leeds fans aren’t satisfied with the output of their attackers.

Leeds average 16.8 shots per game in the league yet they have scored just 70 goals so far this campaign which is only good enough to make them the fifth highest scorers in the division.

Elland Road has seen some prolific strikers in recent seasons with fans using the likes of Chris Wood and Jermaine Beckford as examples of the type of front-man they have been missing.

Other fans have been envious of their rivals strike forces, wishing they had the likes of Teemu Pukki or Tammy Abraham.

Leeds supporters have been quick to criticise Patrick Bamford’s performances this season despite the forward’s impressive minutes to goal ratio which has him scoring on average every 141 minutes.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter…

Liverpool: Roaring Rhian Brewster needs to be unleashed next season

Out with the old, in with the new.

This has seemingly been Jurgen Klopp’s philosophy for quite a long time, as he’s preferred operating with a youthful, hard-working squad and often changed his options at Anfield over the years.

Indeed, as you Reds fans will be well aware of by now, his total overhaul on Merseyside has been slow-burning but hugely effective.

While it’d be crazy to change the winning combination this season, the German’s probably looking at different equations for next season. In order to help Liverpool play different styles of football from heavy-metal to more reserved approaches, he’s always changing around his options.

To that end, this should also be in effect for his world-class attack, which Klopp wants to boost even more going forward.

New signings aside, he’s a big believer in giving talented academy products their opportunities. Following his sublime work with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Rhian Brewster is waiting in the wings for his deserved opportunities. It’ll probably arrive later in the summer during their pre-season tour next season, where Brewster will get the opportunity to impress Klopp, with Kop legend John Aldridge writing in the Liverpool Echo some time ago that he believes the England youth starlet will feature heavily there.

The 19-year-old might’ve been hampered with injuries recent, yet his ability cannot be denied. The top-scorer two years back in England U-17’s World Cup-winning squad, he’s just as talented as Phil Foden or Jadon Sancho. An electric, clinical forward with many tricks under his sleeve, Brewster can achieve his maximum potential under Klopp’s thunderous attacking system.

Following his return from injury, Brewster scored and assisted in his only appearance against Leicester’s U-23 side recently. A hungry striker with excellent finishing ability, the 18-year-old can be moulded into the complete package if he works diligently under Klopp next season, and showcases patience in reaching for the spotlight.

Everton: Tricky Lucas Ocampos will excite Goodison and kick out useless Theo Walcott

Everton fans will be happy to see the back of Theo Walcott! He’s been bang average this season, but Marseille Lucas Ocampos could be about to give the Goodison faithful something to get excited about.

The 24-year-old has played 30 times in Ligue 1 this season, scoring four and making eight assists. He’s an exciting forward with plenty of pace who could work wonders in the final third where Everton have been hit-and-miss this season.

Calciomercato believe Everton are targeting the Argentinian and that would most likely spell the end for Theo Walcott on Merseyside. He’s even been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo when Liverpool and Chelsea were reported to be interested, so he can’t be that bad!

Marco Silva is building a squad full of quick, youthful and dynamic talent. Oscampos fits this bill perfectly and would have the freedom down the left to supply any forward Everton can bring in too. Next season could really be exciting if this winger wants to play for the Toffees.

Anyone would be better than Walcott in the eyes of Everton fans, so he’ll have some patience initially to find his feet in a new country. His confidence on the ball should mean he’ll have no issue settling in among like-minded players such as Bernard.

Buying Lucas Ocampos, who’s rated at just £12.6m on Transfermarkt, could kill two birds with one stone. It’d get rid of Theo Walcott and finally give the Goodison faithful s more youthful and exciting winger to get them on their feet.

How Manchester United fans reacted to Vincent Kompany’s winner vs Leicester

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United fans have dared to cross the intense municipal divide to not only support but wildly celebrate Manchester City’s crucial win against Leicester City as Pep Guardiola’s men went within touching distance of the Premier League title.

In a challenging season at Old Trafford, United supporters have been forced to pick the better of two evils with City battling Liverpool for the title, and the vast majority seem to be in the Sky Blues’ camp.

A tense affair against Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester side saw Vincent Kompany power home a tremendous 30-yard strike to seal the slender 1-0 victory and propel City to within one win of retaining their title.

The image of Kompany sprinting off into the corner, arms pumping and mouth ajar in screams of delight whilst his joyous teammates follow behind will not be new to United supporters. The Belgian etched himself into Manchester derby folklore when his headed effort put City within six points of their first ever Premier League title in 2012.

Now, however, with United a distant afterthought in their neighbours’ minds, Red Devils supporters took to Twitter to express their delight and celebrate Kompany’s epic winner.

Take a look at the best of the reaction below!

Vertonghen confident he will be fit for Champions League final

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is confident that he will be fit to play in the Champions League final on June 1, per The Guardian.

What’s the word?

The Belgium international played a key role in Spurs’ dramatic semi-final victory over Ajax last week but left the stadium on crutches and in a protective boot after sustaining an ankle injury.

It has been suggested that he decided to play through the pain in Amsterdam and he was subsequently absent from the final game of the Premier League season, as the club drew 2-2 with Everton to confirm a fourth-placed finish.

Vertonghen, however, is said to be positive about his chances of playing in Madrid on June 1, when Spurs take on Liverpool.

The Guardian report that the defender was seen without crutches on Sunday.

It could be the first boost of many as the club await the final, with both Harry Kane and Harry Winks expected to be available, per the aforementioned report.

A huge boost

This is massive news for Spurs.

Vertonghen is perhaps the best defender outside of the top two and his inclusion in the team in Madrid now feels inevitable.

He has formed an almost telepathic partnership with compatriot Toby Alderweireld in defence and the pair will need to be at their very best if Spurs are to be crowned champions of Europe.

They are facing a Liverpool team boasting the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, after all, and shutting down their attack will be key to Tottenham’s chances of victory.

It is a tough ask even with Vertonghen in the team; without him, it may well have proved impossible.

Please be right: Leeds fans praying Phil Hay hasn’t got Bielsa update wrong

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on Twitter are praying that Phil Hay’s most recent update on Marcelo Bielsa’s future at the club is accurate.

Speculation has been rampant in the period since Leeds were knocked out of the playoffs, with many experts and fans growing in concern that the Argentine won’t be at Elland Road next season.

The Whites have been completely transformed under Bielsa, and it looked like their 15-year wait to return to the Premier League would finally be over before they fell at the final hurdle.

Of course, promotion to the top flight remains the main goal for the Yorkshire club, and fans are still confident that the 63-year-old is the man to take them up.

The Yorkshire Evening Post writer gave an encouraging update for the fanbase on Friday morning, posting: “My understanding from people in Argentina is that Bielsa is minded to stay put give it another go at Leeds next season. But as ever, you’d be loath to second guess him.”

This update sparked a huge reaction from the fanbase with almost every Whites supporter hoping that Hay was right in what he was saying.

No chance: Wolves fans are praying they don’t sign Filipe Luis

[ad_pod ]

With the transfer window now open, Wolves are looking to add Brazilian full-back Filipe Luis to their squad in an attempt to bolster their ranks ahead of the new season.

That’s according to the Brazilian version of Goal who say that with the player out of contract at Atletico Madrid, he could make the switch to Molineux this summer. However, also interested are PSG and Flamengo.

But with the possibility of signing Luis on the table, Wolves supporters are strongly against the idea of him arriving in the Midlands.

One fan claimed the 33-year-old wasn’t good enough, whilst another suggested he was too old to join the club.

Another supporter took note of how little he did with Chelsea when he was formerly in the Premier League. With that in mind, it doesn’t seem the Molineux faithful are convinced.

When with the Blues, the left-back won the Premier League but only played 15 times in what was a largely unproductive spell.

Luis has enjoyed an illustrious career to date which has included multiple honours in Spain.

Wolves fans have been great value this season and now they’ve added another couple of belters to their arsenal of songs. Check them out in the video below…

This season, the Brazilian featured 27 times in La Liga as Atletico finished second to Barcelona.

Here’s the best of the reaction.

The Chalkboard: Lewis Morgan will find it difficult to break into Celtic side this summer

[ad_pod ]

Celtic manager Neil Lennon won’t have much time to assess his first-team squad before the thick and fast action starts again for the Hoops this summer.

Lennon’s side are currently due to play their first UEFA Champions League qualifier on July 9 or 10, and after a short break the Celtic Park boss will be busy back at work preparing the team for that initial challenge.

One of the players he’ll have to make a decision on quickly is winger Lewis Morgan, who just completed an incredibly long season with Sunderland, just missing out on promotion to the English Championship after Sunday’s play-off final.

He’ll be returning from loan to compete for a left wing spot, but does he have what it takes to make it at Celtic Park?

On the chalkboard

There’s already a fair bit of competition for the position at Celtic Park although it arguably does need strengthened if the Hoops have ambitions of making an impact in Europe.

Scott Sinclair has been first pick for most of the last 12 months, making 55 appearances in 2019/20, scoring 17 goals. Despite that decent tally, question marks have been raised about his ability to impress consistently, definitely opening the door for a new left winger to make the position his own.

Morgan though looks to be the least compelling option of the players immediately available to Lennon with both Mikey Johnston and Daniel Arzani probably ahead of him right now in the queue.

Sunderland impact

The 22-year-old didn’t have a completely ineffective spell at Sunderland after joining in the January transfer window, making 22 appearances in all competitions.

With just two goals and four assists though, he didn’t stand out too much either and given he was playing at English League One level, it doesn’t bode well when considering the kind of attacking output Celtic will be looking for in Europe and big domestic matches.

“Lionel Messi is Barcelona’s James McFadden!” – Watch Scottish football fans name their clubs’ Lionel Messi in the video below…

Right now, the step up between St Mirren and Celtic looks to have been too great of a divide for the young winger. He excelled at Scottish Championship level for the Buddies, but he’s done nothing since the move to suggest he can be a regular for the Hoops.

Can he surprise everyone and force his way into Lennon’s plans this summer? The jury is very much out.
