Following a nightmare campaign, those in charge at Southampton are already reportedly taking key steps to undo an earlier decision ahead of their return to the Championship next season.

Southampton's season to forget

A nightmare season almost wouldn’t be doing it justice. Never has the gap between the Premier League and promoted sides looked so prominent. For the second season in a row, all three promoted sides are heading for the drop to beg the question of just how sides are going to bridge that gap once more and follow the path of Brentford and Brighton rather than Luton and Southampton.

With just 11 games remaining, the Saints need a win from somewhere to avoid Derby’s 11-point tally – the worst in a single Premier League season. Relegation may be on the cards, but those at St Mary’s can at least avoid the ultimate humiliation before their fate is sealed once and for all.

Whilst the answer as to how the likes of Southampton can bridge that aforementioned gap in quality is far from simple, it is worth noting that Brighton nor Brentford came into the top flight to play the slick football we so often see years later. As the Saints have learned the hard way, the first season is all about adapting to new surroundings and surviving even at the sacrifice of certain philosophies.

Now already looking ahead to next season, those at St Mary’s are seemingly already taking key steps towards one decision. According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Southampton chiefs are already working to undo their Ivan Juric appointment, having welcomed senior management member Simon Rusk in the beginning of the end for the former AS Roma man.

After sacking Russell Martin, the natural decision should have arguably been to hire a survival specialist with Premier League experience and not a former Roma manager. But Juric arrives nonetheless in an appointment which has resulted in little improvement.

Now, although he does at least have one league win to his name and it could be said that the Saints were beyond saving when he arrived, Juric looks destined for the door.

Crook told GiveMeSport: “I would be amazed if he’s still the Southampton manager for the start of next season. They’ve already appointed Simon Rusk as a more senior member of management. I think that could be the first step towards Ivan Juric being forced out of the club. And I think it’s a disastrous appointment.

“He’s playing an attacking midfielder in Joe Aribo as centre-half when he’s got better centre-backs on the bench. Tyler Dibling is clearly their most talented outfield player.

“His confidence has absolutely gone through the floor since Juric – who is a bit of an old school disciplinarian manager – came in. I think Sport Republic have made a right shambles of it, to be honest.”

A ação foi executada junto à Federação do Rio de Janeiro nesta quinta-feira, horas antes da partida contra o América-MG. Thairo Arruda, presidente da SAF, agora também representa o Botafogo na Ferj. Em nota, Jorge Braga se disse surpreso com a decisão.

“Recebi com surpresa a informação de que Thairo Arruda irá me substituir na representação da Botafogo SAF junto à CBF e à Ferj, funções que exercia com muita honra. De toda forma, desejo sempre melhor para o Botafogo.

Quero aproveitar as inúmeras mensagens e esclarecer também que me encontro totalmente recuperado do problema de saúde que tive recentemente e que, mesmo internado, jamais me desliguei do trabalho em prol Glorioso”

Vale lembrar que Jorge ficou internado por dez dias recentemente para tratar de um problema de saúde, mas está recuperado e já voltou a trabalhar.

Na sequência, Cano chegou a arriscar de fora da área e sofreu o corte. Edu esticou para Luvannor, que lançou uma bomba agarrada por Fábio.

The Argentinian winger looked destined to follow in Marcus Rashford’s footsteps by departing in the January transfer window amid links to the likes of Chelsea, but eventually stayed put and has since crept back into Amorim’s side.

Nonetheless, he could still decide to leave a sinking ship and a manager whose system simply does not accommodate wingers when the summer arrives. United, meanwhile, could commence a summer of sales by showing Garnacho the door.

There was once a time when leaving Old Trafford seemed an absurd idea, but those days are long gone. Recent history instead tells a damning story of how players can benefit from leaving Manchester United – whether it’s been Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku or more recently, Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Now, Garnacho can become the latest to steal the headlines away from a club drowning in failure.

Under Ten Hag, the young winger looked destined to become the star of the team, having earned regular praise from the Dutchman, who told reporters: “I love to work with Garnacho.

“He’s a player who needs a challenge, he likes a challenge, he is very brave, he’s very confident, our job is to push him to high levels. He has high potential and now we have to get the potential out, therefore you have to work day by day.”

Now, under Amorim, he has been surplus to requirements at times, in what has been the harshest reality check possible for a player who has strayed from a path towards Old Trafford greatness.

Like others in the past, Garnacho should take hold of an opportunity to leave Manchester United behind this summer.

The Conference League was never going to be of the utmost importance for Enzo Maresca in his debut year at Chelsea.

That said, it’s been a fine learning curve for a number of young players and has allowed enough rotation to try and keep those on the fringes of the squad happy.

Players like Christopher Nkunku and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall haven’t been preferred much in the Premier League but have made their mark in Europe.

Nkunku is the competition’s second top scorer with five and has taken to proceedings nicely. Still, as Chelsea were finally handed a tougher opposition, they didn’t exactly set the world alight.

Following their trip to Copenhagen last week where they won 2-1, the second leg was hardly a thriller. It was far from it, in fact, as despite Cole Palmer’s introduction at the break, the Blues could only win 1-0.

They’re in the hat for the next round, however, and that’s all that truly matters.

This was not an amazing night for many in blue but there were a trio of players who shone.

Unsurprisingly, the first of which was club-record man Moises Caicedo.

While Palmer’s barren run of form continues, Caicedo only continues to get better, putting in a particularly physical display on Thursday evening, notably winning eight of his nine duels.

Rather more surprisingly, though, was the impact of the aforementioned Dewsbury-Hall. Since signing from Leicester last summer he’s barely kicked a ball but played a pivotal part this week, scoring the game’s only goal.

A mention too for young Tyrique George who started on the right wing and outshone the more senior Jadon Sancho on the opposite wing.

George has been one of the beneficiaries of Chelsea’s venture in the Conference League this campaign, and he did well on Thursday night.

The teenager didn’t leave the field with a goal or assist but he certainly didn’t let anyone down in the final third, registering two key passes and completing four of his dribble attempts.

It was certainly a more encouraging performance than Sancho whose inconsistent loan spell at Chelsea only continues to rumble on.

The winger now hasn’t scored for the club since the 8th December and hasn’t posted an assist since the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on January 4th.

So underwhelming have his displays been that Sancho’s only shot on target against Copenhagen was his first goalbound effort since 26th December. A damning stat, indeed.

Remember how incredible this player was at Dortmund and it beggars belief that he’s now so often struggling to make things happen.

Beyond that one shot, it was another tricky night at the office for the Manchester United loanee who was handed a 4/10 rating by GOAL. Their correspondent, Peter McVitie, admitted that he had ‘a really quiet game”.

The stats certainly support that. Sancho had just one shot, didn’t produce a single key pass or cross and had fewer touches than goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen (38). Given the standard of opposition, you’d expect so much more from a player who was dazzling in the Champions League with Dortmund last term.

During their run to the final, he produced as many as 12 dribbles in their semi-final win over PSG. That was the most by any player in a single game in that season’s edition. It was also the most by any player in a Champions League semi-final since Lionel Messi in April 2008 against Man United.

A little over a year on, he’s back in English football again, and sadly, struggling once more.

Chelsea might not have too many options right now in the final third but regardless of that, Maresca must drop Sancho when they face Arsenal on Sunday.

It’s not just his short-term future he should be sweating over, however, with Brazilian teenage superstar Estevao set to arrive formally in the summer and the news that 17-year-old Sporting winger Geovany Quenda is due to sign too.

Quenda is a right winger by trade but has also played minutes on Sancho’s favoured left side. On this evidence, the Englishman does not look a match for either of these wonderful teenage talents.

Perhaps that obligation to buy wasn’t the smartest of decisions from Todd Boehly and Co.

Para os torcedores que entrarão na arena corintiana pelo acesso leste, o ideal é descer na estação Corinthians-Itaquera, ponto final da Linha 3 Vermelha.

Já quem ingressará ao estádio pelo acesso oeste, a dica é descer uma estação antes do ponto final, em Artur Alvim.

De toda forma, o torcedor terá que andar entre 1,5 e 2km a pé até o estádio, o que gira em torno de 15 a 30 minutos de caminhada, a depender do compasso.

TREM

A Corinthians-Itaquera também conta com estação de trem, que pertence a Linha 11 Coral. Para o torcedor que optar por esse tipo de transporte, também terá que caminhar cerca de 1,5km até a Neo Química Arena.

CARRO

A Neo Química Arena possui estacionamento próprio, que custa entre R$ 99,00 e R$ 129,00 para os torcedores que não são sócios. Já para os associados, o valor varia entre R$ 69,00 e R$ 89,00, dependendo do setor que o carro será guardado. Há um grande pátio a céu aberto, mas também tem as opções de estacionar os veículos em subsolos.

Outra opção é o Shopping Metrô Itaquera, que fica próximo a Neo Química Arena, possui quatro mil vagas e o valor varia de R$ 13,00 (até três horas) a R$ 30,00 (até 10 horas).

Não há muitas alternativas de ruas no entorno do estádio para estacionar. Recomenda-se também a utilização de serviços de carros por aplicativo.
