Crystal Palace’s recruitment over the past couple of years has seen them sign some excellent talent who have made a huge impact on the first team or even bank the club a huge profit.

Michael Olise is just one example of a player who succeeded at Selhurst Park before leaving for a sizeable profit, with his funds undoubtedly making the club more sustainable.

Current owner Parish admitted that he had the opportunity to sign the left-back as a youngster, claiming that a work permit scuppered a potential move.

In an interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung via GOAL a couple of years ago, he said:

“When he was 15, 16 in a football school in Edmonton, where my sister lives, she recommended him to me.

“We flew to Canada especially to see the player. We wanted to sign him, but once again we couldn’t get a work permit in England. True story! I still have all the mails. I’m sure he would have been interested in coming to us – and we were very early!”

It’s really unfortunate that the club were unable to complete a deal for the talent considering the heights he’s gone on to reach since his failed move to the Eagles seven years ago, having been dubbed the “best left-back in the world” by Alexi Lalas.

However, unfortunately for Parish and the supporters, Davies will go down as yet another case of what could’ve been had they completed a move for the elite-level talent.

England’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh, which was originally scheduled for September and October this year, has been postponed indefinitely.While sources within English cricket have suggested the postponement was the decision of the BCB there has been no confirmation at this point. A statement is expected shortly, however, with the reason given likely to be complications around Covid protocols.It may be relevant, however, that the decision will enable many of those involved to return to the IPL when it resumes in the UAE on September 19. It was postponed after 29 matches earlier this year due to a spike in Covid cases within teams’ bio-bubbles.Certainly the ECB are set to allow their players to take part in the remainder of the tournament arguing that it will provide ideal preparation for the T20 World Cup which will be staged in the same part of the world a few weeks later.The players not involved in the IPL, meanwhile, will get a chance to rest before England embark on a packed winter touring schedule that includes the T20 World Cup, which begins on October 17 in the UAE (some first-round games will also be played in Oman), and the Ashes in Australia.England are also scheduled to tour Pakistan for two T20Is on October 14 and 15 as part of their preparations for the T20 World Cup. The PCB and ECB are currently confident this tour will go ahead.Both boards are understood to favour rescheduling the Bangladesh series for late 2022 or early 2023, though gaps in the schedule are not obvious. January 2023 might offer the best solution. Three Chelsea boys played for the Three Lions on Thursday evening, Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill starting the game, and Noni Madueke coming from the bench to replace Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka in the 51st minute of the game.

Palmer played well, playing in a slightly deeper midfield role for the majority of the game, completing two key passes, completing 4/5 long balls, completing 1/2 dribbles, and winning 4/7 ground duels. Madueke had two shots in his 39 minutes, won 1/3 ground duels, made one tackle, and completed 92% of his passes.

But it was Colwill who impressed most for England, despite conceding two goals, he was one of the highest rated players on the pitch, getting a 7/10 match rating from The Independent, the highest rating of any England player, being labeled “magnificent” for his goal line clearance early in the game.

Colwill put in a brilliant, 104-touch display for England against Greece, making six clearances, one block, one interception, two tackles, as well as completing 6/8 long balls, winning 4/5 aerial duels, and 2/6 ground duels.

The 21-year-old is largely praised for his superb passing ability, often breaking the lines with his progressive passes, but against Greece, Colwill had to show a lot of defensive steel, winning many of his aerial duels (4/5), and cleaning up when balls did go in behind the England backline.

That ability to smell the danger was best showcased in the example below, with the Cobham graduate bailing his teammate Jordan Pickford out of trouble with that vital intervention in the first-half.

This was the Chelsea defender’s third England cap, and he will be hoping he has done enough to impress, and solidify his spot in the squad, no matter what happens with the managerial decision going forwards.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed Colwill is “the future of Chelsea”, stating he is going nowhere and is a “crucial” part of their project going forwards. The defender has risen through the academy ranks, playing 18 times for the U18s, playing 26 times for the U21, and now playing 39 times for the Chelsea first team.

The former Brighton loanee has started the season strong under new manager, Enzo Maresca, starting all seven Premier League games so far, and playing 630 minutes of football. His passing ability is highly valued, and many regard him as a leader in the making for this Chelsea side.

An amazing partnership is blossoming between Colwill and Wesley Fofana, with a brilliant balance of attributes, as shown from the metrics above. Colwill provides elite passing quality, being the primary ball playing defender, and cutting things out with his high levels of IQ, making blocks and interceptions.

Whilst Fofana, offers a more aggressive style, looking to use his pace and power to win tackles, win duels (ground and aerial), and carry the ball out of defence when the chance arises. If Chelsea can keep them both fit, they have the chance to establish themselves as one of the best duos in the league come the end of the season and beyond.

As for Colwill’s hopes of nailing down a regular role at international level, he did himself no harm at Wembley, that’s for sure.

As a result, Knight Riders have jumped to the fourth spot on the points table, with eight points from nine games.Chasing 155, Knight Riders attacked right from the start. Shubman Gill fell early but Iyer and Tripathi added 88 in 52 balls for the second wicket. Kolkata Knight Riders were found to be short on the minimum required over rate in the game against Mumbai Indians, the IPL said in a statement after the game. It was their second over-rate offence of the season, and so, as per the tournament rules, captain Eoin Morgan was fined INR 24 lakh (USD 32,000 approx.) and the rest of the playing XI either INR 6 (USD 8000 approx.) lakh or 25% of their match fee, whichever was lesser.

أصدرت لجنة الاحتراف وأوضاع اللاعبين في الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم قرارها النهائي بشأن الشكوى المقدمة من نادي الفتح ضد الأهلي ومهاجمه فراس البريكان.

وكان نادي الفتح قد ادعى وقوع مخالفات تتعلق بلائحة الاحتراف وأوضاع اللاعبين وانتقالاتهم، وذلك حين فسخ فراس البريكان عقده مع النادي وانتقل لـ الأهلي.

وجاءت شكوى الفتح، وفقًا لما نشره الاتحاد السعودي، استنادًا إلى مزاعم بمخالفة الأهلي واللاعب ومؤسسة التسويق للفقرة الخامسة والسادسة من المادة 33، إلى جانب الفقرتين الثالثة والرابعة من المادة 43، وكذلك الفقرة (3/1) من المادة 65 من لائحة الاحتراف.

وبعد دراسة القضية والاطلاع على كافة المستندات والأدلة المقدمة، قررت اللجنة قبول الشكوى من الناحية الشكلية، لكنها رفضتها موضوعيًا، ما يعني عدم ثبوت أي مخالفة تستوجب العقوبة بحق الأطراف المعنية.

ووأكدت اللجنة بحسب “الرياضية السعودية”، أن القرار الصادر يمكن الاستئناف عليه أمام مركز التحكيم الرياضي السعودي، وفقًا للوائح المعمول بها.

وكانت صفقة انتقال فراس البريكان إلى الأهلي قد تمت في سبتمبر 2023، بعدما أنهى اللاعب مشواره مع الفتح لينضم إلى صفوف الفريق الغربي في صفقة أثارت جدلًا واسعًا في الوسط الرياضي السعودي. ومنذ انضمامه للأهلي، خاض البريكان 60 مباراة في مختلف المسابقات، سجل خلالها 19 هدفًا وصنع 12، ليصبح أحد العناصر المؤثرة في تشكيل الفريق.

ويأتي قرار لجنة الاحتراف ليضع حدًا للجدل الدائر حول قانونية انتقال اللاعب، ويؤكد صحة إجراءات انتقاله إلى الأهلي، مما يمنح النادي استقرارًا إداريًا في ظل سعيه للمنافسة على البطولات المحلية والقارية.
